How Honest Are You?

Last week I was walking into work and found a Five Dollar Bill just sitting on the street in front of our entry. I work downtown on one of the busier streets in my little town. I am not trying to trick you into thinking I live in some metropolis. Just wanted to make that clear. But if there was a street that had foot traffic in my town, this would be it. I work just around the corner from our homeless shelter so you can imagine that from that alone we have walkers all around all day. So I really had no idea what to do with the money. I didn't want to leave it, that didn't seem fair! BUT I didn't want to take someone's money either. So I figured it was literally right in front of our door, chances are if it is anyone's it may belong to someone from my office. I decided, take the money and send out an agency wide email asking if anyone lost the money. So that is what I did. I got the expected, "It's mine, just kidding" responses and one "you are so honest" email. But bonus, no I think it is mine, for real, emails. So I was sitting in my office pondering what will I ever do with this fun found money, until I got an email about how I owe money to someone (not just me a bunch of staff on my team) for a thank you gift to a co-worker who was shifting positions and wouldn't be on our team anymore. So, easy come easy go, bye bye Lincoln, off to the jewelry store you went.

Yesterday at lunch we were talking about my found money and were thinking about sending out another one but replacing five with fifty to see if everyone would be just as honest.

What do you think? Would you do the honest thing and try to find the home of the money? Would it make a difference if it was five or fifty?

Hope it gives you something to think about.

Giveaway!

I love free stuff, in fact I was just talking about that at lunch yesterday. I will do most anything and go just about anywhere if it gives me free stuff (even if it is junk). Sooo...I came across a GIVEAWAY (which is not junk, btw) today at the Undomestic Momma. It is a gift certificate to Lisa Leonard jewelry. I love her style, it is really cute. For the record if I got the GC I would likely get the "be still" necklace. I am a nature junkie and it feels like that necklace captures the serenity I feel when I am one with nature.

So, go play along!

Happy Wednesday!

Top 2 Tuesday

Today is Top 2 Tuesday at
The Undomestic Momma. Today's topic is Top 2 Names!! This is something that I have actually thought of (which is kind of funny because I have only recently decided that children may be in my future).
So

Here they are:

Girl's Names

Lydia Mae
This is a combination of my two grandmother's names. I would call her Liddie (which is my grandmother's actual name). My friend Jessica likes to taunt my unborn/unconceived child's name by calling her "Lydia Chlamydia". I guess that is just something that we'll have to deal with because that name isn't going anywhere. I don't know a lot of names that don't rhyme with something or a lot of kids who go through life without being taunted for something or another. It may be a lesson in letting people in about your future baby names though (a lesson which I chose to ignore yet again).

Scout

After Scout from to kill a mocking bird (love that book)

Boy's Names

Finn
I picked Finn because I have always loved Huckleberry Finn and I see him as the ultimate boy's boy, I loved his shenanigans!

Scout
I would also consider Scout for a boy's name I think it is pretty gender neutral, and kind of cute either way (same reasoning as for the girls name, and I don't think Atticus, Boo or Gatsby would be great boy names in today's world)

Ross is going to have a hard time getting a say in otherwise, I have my mind pretty set on some of these! Maybe if we get married he will earn more of a say ;)

Wishful Wednesday

Today is again Wishful Wednesday over at the Seattle Smith's.

This week's wish is:
'I wish' .... I could have gone to the 2010 Winter Olympics to see one event, and it would have been the Gold Metal Men's Hockey Game!

What a game!!! It not only went into overtime where the US lost :( but the shot that put them there was from a UND Alum!

Zach Parise, UND Alum who makes us proud

There was another UND alum of which (for the purposes of the olympics) we were a little less proud.

Jonathan Toews of Team Canada boooooooooooo
side note when you google Jonathan Toews the first suggested search is "Jonathan Toews girlfriend" gotta love those jersey chasers!
I would have loved to have been at the gold medal game, excitement to the finish, where unfortunately team Canada won.
If I could've gone to another event it would've been at the Men's freestyle figure skating. I am a sucker for figure skating and would've loved to see Evan Lysacek perform and beat that Russian!!!

Dogs, dogs, dogs

This week Ross and I have my parents' dog Breega. She is the sweetest chocolate lab. However, she is incredibly spoiled and very jealous when you give attention to anything other than her. She whines and barks like crazy any time you do.

So we have:

Sophie
Sophie is an obsessive ball chaser. She would love nothing more than to play with a tennis ball all. day. long. seriously. I think it is borderline (maybe not so borderline) OCD.

Cooper
What do I say about Cooper, he may be one of the most annoying dogs on the face of the planet. He weighs 90 lbs and thinks he is a lap dog. He barks non-stop and licks, licks, licks. When he is done drinking water he goes toward the nearest person (sometimes Sophie's head can substitute) licking the air until he can make skin contact. Sigh.

Breega
Like I said, Breega is spoiled rotten. I have already had at least one call per day per parent about her. They believe she cannot adjust to my lifestyle because she "hasn't been around dogs" and needs attention. Well, she is getting plenty of attention... from the dogs! Duh M & D!

We're having a great time so far. Breega is a very well behaved dog and very loving. I'm glad to have her here for awhile, even if it kind of feels like we are running a dog zoo. I was talking to my dad and contemplating taking her to the dog park but then we decided that we have our own dog park at home.

$$ Cha Ching $$

This weekend Ross and I went back to my parents house and on Saturday the casino had all you can eat crab legs for...$7.77!!!! My brother had told me about this little feast earlier in the week and crab legs are Ross's favorite so I knew I wanted to fit it into the trip some how. So my dad, mom, brother, sister-in-law, Ross and I all packed into my dad's suburban and make the hour drive out to the casino for the occasion. We got there and the line looked like this.

kind of hard to see I know, I was using Ross's phone camera, not the best

The line was pretty long, but we drove all that way so we weren't going anywhere. After a little while I decided to investigate how long the line really was and walked up front. I am not really afraid of talking to strangers (despite childhood warnings from my mother) so I started talking to the people up front and asked how long they had been waiting. To my surprise it was only about 20 minutes.

It turned out they were right, within about 30 minutes we were in and seated and ready to engorge ourselves with crab legs. The BEST surprise from the buffet, BLINTZES!!! Blintzes are my favorite, and I could not have been happier than I was in that moment.

We stayed eating crab legs for quite some time. So long in fact that we actually filled two of these crab buckets! I learned something new that night, Ross is an expert crab cracker! He is quite speedy and I am lucky he loves me, because he did all my crab legs for me.

After the buffet we all spread out to do a little gambling. I am happy to report that Ross and I broke almost even. Losing only 75 cents! Not too shabby!
