Favorite Friday

I haven't done a Friday Favorite for awhile!

I am obsessed with fun office supplies, guess I married the right guy since he works at an office supply store!

I love all things that are cute notebooks/notepads, folders, sharpies and of course, PENS!

Here are some of my favorite pens and what I love about them!

1. Uni-ball's Jetstream. These pens glide like nobody's business! They are smooth people! Just try one and you will see what you've been missing. I have tried the clickytop and the capped pen and for this one I prefer the clickytop. It is a ballpoint pen, but the smoothest you can imagine. I have also never had it leave a big blot like so many ballpoints do.

2. Sharpie's Retractable Pen. These are not a permanent marker, but believe me people will ask anyway. I have tried both the regular sharpie pen and the retractable one and the retractable pen is where it is at! This pen won't smudge like most pens. You can touch it instantly and you could barely get it to smudge no matter how hard you tried. The ink is more like a sharpie than a ball-point or gel so it is like writing with a marker which makes my inner child VERY happy. You can find this pen at most office supply stores but trust me, it is worth spending a little more and splurging for the retractable version.

3. Pilot's V-ball Fine Point. This is like writing with the tip of your finger. Again it has a wonderful glide to it and it uses a liquid ink so it really is a smooth writing pen. It is probably a little thicker than a regular ballpoint pen, just to give you an idea. I like that my gel pens to be capped (you will see why below). This pen is hard to find in a store so I suggest the amazon link above if you are interested in trying this one. At $17 for 12 pens it isn't a bad deal!

Honorable mentions:

The Pilot Precise V7 has a wonderfully tiny point. This is great for me when I have to write in small spaces, I have horribly large handwriting lately so this small point keeps me writing smaller. Point of caution - I used these as my first lawyerly pen and kept them in my favorite court bag (can you see where this is going yet?) until one day when I was rushing out of court and apparently left the cap off of one and got blue ink EVERYWHERE in my bag. Seriously it drained a whole brand new pen all over the lining of my bag, which was not salvageable whatsoever. That isn't the pens fault though, so don't blame the pen, just owner error!

Sharpie liquid pencil. This is like writing with a great pen but as a pencil! Try it you'll love it. Realistically it is like a really sharp crayon that is only erasable with the magic erasers that come with it, so let that be a warning to you because it makes a mess of your page if you try to use a regular eraser!

So there you go! My favorite pens, what's your favorite?

Sunshines and Creeps

This week's sunshines and creeps doesn't have a lot to it since I just did one on Monday but here we go!

Sunshine to great weather the last couple of days. It is a bit cooler today (66) but it feels nice after a few days of scorching heat.

Creep to my feelings of impatience. Now that both of my neighbors have sold their houses I am getting very anxious to sell ours. I honestly thought ours would be the first to go, so it goes to show, what the heck do I know about selling a house anyway! I am trying to remind myself that it has only been on the market a week, be patient it will happen. (Those are seriously my dad's exact words to me, proof I actually do listen to what my dad says)

Sunshine to going to the doctor yesterday, finally, to get on some prescription meds for my evil sinuses. I have had horrible sinus issues my whole life and now he put me on a new med that should (finders crossed) help out some. I haven't slept in a week because I have been up with a cough so bad. I also have a sinus infection right now on top of my chronic sinus issues so I got meds to hopefully help with that too!

Creep that I may have to go on a nasal spray if the first meds don't work well for me. I hate putting liquid in my nose. Early on I mastered the ability to never get water up my nose while swimming, so this seems counter intuitive to me. Although I must admit I have started doing a saline sinus rinse and it feels so good afterwards that I am starting to get used to it.

Creep to our pups being gone for so long now :( Sophie has been gone for two whole months. She is on vacay with my parents until we get all moved out of our house and into a new one. She is not dead like I apparently have lead people to believe on facebook, although it feels like she is since I never see her.  Cooper is also on vacay with Ross's parents until we move. He has been gone for a month already! I miss out pups, it is so quiet at home without them. I love coming home to our happy happy pups who love us and missed us all day. I don't miss their hair everywhere, especially this time of year. Sorry mom and dad and to your carpets too!

I got this picture from Ross today who is walking Cooper for his parents. Ahhhh the life of a dog!

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day! Enjoy your long weekend only one until July!

Reading

I am a big reader! I love books, thanks to my wonderful mom the librarian who gave me my love for books REALLY early! I love just sticking my nose in a book and not thinking about a single thing surrounding me. That is my favorite thing about books, their ability to completely transport you to a whole other world and it is so perfectly pictured in you head that you feel like you're there.

I am still working my way through Stephanie Plum novels I talked about a while back but I my reading list is quickly expanding! Here are a few on my list:

  1. Defending Jacob ( I have been hearing LOTS of good things about this book about a boy accused of killing a classmate)
  2. 50 shades of grey...even though I hear it is simply housewife porn I can't help but read it. Plus it is based on Edward and Bella from the Twilight books and I sure did love that smut! I am assuming she did all the filling in of all the blanks of what Edward and Bella were REALLY up to when Stephanie Meyer was writing about a simple kiss or a lingering look.
  3. I am now two behind on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. I love love love these books and I can't believe I am already two in the hole!
  4. I also need to finish the last three Bridal Quartet books by Nora Roberts. I started them way back before the wedding and the first one was wonderful so I need to get back to the last three!
  5. I am also on the audiobook waiting list of the book thief. I should be able to sneak that one in!
Those are just a few books on my summer reading list...what is on yours? I love summer because I always get more reading done in the summers, I never knew why until I really thought about it. In the summer I am always wanting to be outside and since I am such a TV addict I am hooked on all the great fall/winter TV that is on in the winter and summer is my time to take a timeout, except big brother and True Blood of course!

I am always looking for a great book recommendation! P.S. don't forget to check your local library first! I love reading great books for free! They even have ebooks and audiobooks you can download to your eReader, iPhone or iPod!

Sunshines and Creeps

Welcome to Sunshines and Creeps - the late edition.

Sunshine to getting our house ready to put on the market and doing so last Thursday!

Sunshine to my in-laws for SO MUCH HARD WORK getting our house ready. They have done everything for us from painting to cleaning. I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful family.

Sunshine to Ross's dad having extensive knowledge in drywall. It comes in very helpful!

Sunshine to AWESOME weather this weekend, creep to really random weather patterns going on these days.

Creep to the home buying & selling process. It is very stressful and EXPENSIVE!

Sunshine to both of my neighbors selling their houses. All three of us put our houses on the market in the past week and theirs have sold already! This is a good thing because now ours is the only one on the market in our whole association, this will definitely be bringing in more traffic.

Creep to having to hang up on Kristen this week. I have had zero free time for 3 weeks and that has been a downer in more ways than one!

Creep to major jealousy pangs that I am feeling for my friend/co-worker Jenny who is on her way to Maui as I am typing. I would give anything to go on a trip to Hawaii with my hubby just the two of us.

Sunshine to the new bachelorette. I never watched Brad's Bachelor season but I already love Emily just from what I have seen! I need something to occupy my DVR before Big Brother starts!!! Not that I have a lot of time these days but I will hopefully get all caught up!

Sunshine to Ross's birthday giving us an excuse to go out to eat...lots!

Creep to going out to eat lots and feeling like a cow!

Sunshine to getting to see some of our nephew's hockey games this weekend. I am hoping never to have to be a hockey mom because of all the expense and time involved BUT I sure love going to watch our nephews play! It was fun getting to hang out with them this weekend on their off time!

Happy Birthday to my favorite person!

Last week was my man's birthday. He turned a whopping 37 years old! It is really hard to remember that he is so much older than I am because he acts much younger! I love that about him. He keeps me much younger than I feel!

For Ross's birthday week, yup you heard me, birthday week, we celebrated in lots of different ways. As for meals, we went out for practically every meal this past week so this week we are working on eating in!

On his actual birthday we went to Blue Moose with his parents and sat on the patio for lunch! He was able to enjoy a beer but I had to go back to work so it was water for me! Ross tried their new Guinness burger which was right up his alley and definitely the best burger I have ever tasted there! I had my go-to Reuben. That night we went to our favorite restaurant, the Toasted Frog. He got his favorite meal, pizza, specifically the Bonzer pizza named for a local restaurant owner, and has prosciutto and mushrooms.  The next day Ross ended up having lunch with his dad after golfing, rough life that guy has huh?! Then that night we had planned to go to Ross's favorite pizza joint (yes pizza is seriously what he lives for) but ended up going to Mama Maria's instead so his mom could have a pasta dinner before her 10k the next day. Ross got pizza there, probably not as good as a Rhombus Guys pizza but I promised that I would take him there this week to make up for it. Saturday we picked up some Chinese food on our way home from his nephew's hockey game. Then Sunday we went out for brunch with his family after church. That one was ALL me, it is my favorite brunch at Eagle's Crest where they have blintzes. SO YUMMY! If you haven't ever tried blintzes find some immediately. Then Sunday night we took off for Texas Roadhouse for my friend (and bridesmaid) Kristi's birthday. We rarely go to TX Roadhouse because the food NEVER comes out right (this time Ross's burger was full of onions, my steak was FAR overcooked and I never got my salad) but the buns are so good they make up for it, especially when you don't go there very often.  So there you have it, are you as sick of restaurants as I am?! I want to puke thinking about eating out again!

Happy Birthday Ross! I hope you enjoyed your birthday week! I cannot wait to grow even older with you and see where our future takes us!  More on that to follow this week! Exciting changes in our lives right now, and I can't wait to share! No we're not pregnant.

Sunshines and Creeps

Sunshines and Creeps

Happy Friday people! I love Fridays, they make me so happy. Today my post may make no sense as I am exhausted from being up late for two weeks straight. Ugh. We are all set to almost finish painting our house and get it ready to put it on the market!

Sunshine to being almost there!

Creep to the late nights :(

Sunshine to Ross's mom helping me paint last night when he had to work. They're coming back today to help more.

Creep to the window being stuck open in last nights wind storm! (Sunshine to me for figuring out how to fix it all by myself) I like to fix things myself, I guess I don't depend on Ross for everything after all!

Sunshine to the BEAUTIFUL day yesterday. Hopefully the weekend will be just as nice!

Sunshine to Mother's day on Sunday!

Creep to not getting to watch any of my TV shows anymore because we are too busy at night.

Sunshine to finally watching the Glee DV (domestic violence) episode. I love that they bring forward hard topics. Sometimes things are a little cheesy but they try to be socially responsible.

Sunshine to the new blogger, so much easier to use!

Sunshine to Jenni's bridal shower being set for July!

Sunshine to seeing Ross's nephews (and mine too) this weekend, they're so fun!

Creep to still not finding any houses we are interested in. I have faith that something wonderful will pop up, just at the right time! Right??? Too much to ask? Probably.

Sunshine to my robot hubby Ross! He is a machine when it comes to working on our house. He is running off only a few hours of sleep each night trying to get everything done. I am so lucky.

Sunshines and Creeps

Sunshines and Creeps

Sunshine to a beautiful day yesterday - I can't wait for a few in a row...currently it is cloudy and makes me want a nap.

Sunshine my dad coming up for a visit and bringing Sophie dog with him so that I could see her. I miss her SOOOOO much. Obviously it was great seeing my dad too. He is always fun to have around!

Creep to my dad having to take Sophie with him when he left.

SUNSHINE to Ross and I deciding to clean out our house and put it on the market.

Creep to not having anywhere to go if it sells.

Creep to Grand Forks' real estate market, currently there are less than 100 total homes for sale right now here. Typically, there are over 300, and there are ZERO homes we are interested in or can afford on the market right now. It is seriously depressing. Hopefully we find something at just the right time! Otherwise it is off to the in-laws we go!

Sunshine to possibly buying my Aunt's car. She is looking to upgrade and we are looking to buy...anything. Ross is driving his brother's old car right now and it is a PILE OF JUNK! That is an understatement. I won't go in it unless I have to, seriously. Poor Ross.

Sunshine for the weekend! Yay!

Creep to the all night cleaning sessions this week and the ones to come this weekend. We are moving lots of stuff to the storage unit so we are making progress I think!

Creep to me being a bad wife and never cooking this week. The one night I did I made the most horrible new recipe. YUCK! Again, poor Ross.
