Oh Baby - Week 18

Total Weight Gain:
Up about a pound. I was starting to get a little worried here but the doctor said she isn't worried, that the baby is probably just taking everything I eat and hording it for baby. Which I can tell you is true, because every once in awhile I get a little famished and I know right where all that food went. I eat all the time but apparently this baby just wants to get bigger not mom, which is A-OK by me!

Maternity clothes:
I am wearing maternity shirts about every other day now, which is really nice, they are so comfy with room in just the right places!

Stretch Marks:
Nope.

Best moments:
Feeling baby for the first time with Ross! I was just telling him how I had read that babies move the most when mom is still because when you are moving they're lulled into sleep and BAM! a nice poke from inside the belly to say hello. It was so fun! I can't only imagine the look on my face. We were driving out of the renaissance fair and we were both totally exhausted and filthy! More on that to come!

Movement:
Yay! A few times now. Both times in the car, so hopefully that doesn't mean that baby will like to be awake in the car on the outside too!

Food Cravings:
No, not really.

Food Aversions:
Nothing much really. I am still not huge on meat but hopefully I can eat up some alternative protein to make up for it.

What I miss:
We went to the cities to celebrate our anniversary this past weekend and I would have LOVED to have some bubbly to celebrate, or some mead at the renaissance fair.

Nausea/Vomiting:
Nope!

Symptoms:
Back aches, seriously. Driving in the car for long periods of time is a killer. It isn't like a back ache (which I'm sure is to come as I get bigger and bigger) but like something is getting pinched in there. Ugh.

Labor signs:
No, phew

Gender:
More on that to come :)

Belly Button:
Innie.

Wedding Rings:
Fitting fine.

Sleep:
Pretty good. No complaints.

Wisdom:
Ugh. Wash everything you eat. This week I got food poisoning. I'm not sure from what but I was pretty worried about baby for a little while because I couldn't keep anything down and I know I was VERY dehydrated. Luckily we had a Dr. appointment to go to in the morning and she reassured me that everything was just fine and to try to get down some powerade. I'm still not sure what I got it from but I am trying to be a little more careful now, because gosh that was annoying!

Oh baby - Week 7

I am still having a hard time believing we're really doing this...having a baby. It hits me every once and awhile, like this week at the 4th of July festivities downtown. We saw kids and strollers everywhere, next year that will be us! I know I am not willing to give up one single thing for the 4th so baby will be with us all the way!

Baby is the size of a blueberry this week. Not too big but making a noticeable difference in our lives already!

Total Weight Gain:
Oops, I still haven't weighed myself yet. That's on the list for this week!

Maternity clothes:
Nope! Still rocking my regulars, for now!

Stretch Marks:
Nope, let's hope for none!

Best moments:
I finally was able to decide on a doctor and we are going to meet with her later this month. Ross told his boss our big news as a result.

Movement:
Clearly none, but I cannot wait to feel our baby :)

Food Cravings:
Mostly crackers, and pizza, and fruit. I stocked up big time on fruit this week at the store!

Food Aversions:
Pretty much anything in the morning. I don't eat much until lunch time when I finally eat my breakfast (which is always lunch food). I never want to eat anything twice, mealwise anyway. Apparently I have picky pregnancy tastebuds that want new food at all times. This is difficult since I am too tired to cook.

What I miss:
I missed imitation crab meat this week. I made a yummy dip and before I ate it I had Ross google whether or not I could eat the crab, turns out no. It is just like lunch meat. So I did throw it in the microwave and eat it anyway, just warm. I miss not having to think about that I'm eating this week. It is exhausting looking into everything and a lot of the time I can't get a straight answer if something is ok or not which makes it more difficult. I keep telling myself though that the warnings come from another mommy who had something go wrong, so I want to do my best to follow all the advice I can.

As always, my boozy self misses red wine. More so this week when I am headed to the lake.

Nausea/Vomiting:
I get nausea in the morning for about an hour or two. I finally pegged down that it is the same exact feeling I would get when I was on the pill and would take two week 1 pills on the same day! So ladies who have also been as irresponsible with your BC as I was, you will know just what to expect!

Symptoms:
Just the nausea this week. Everything is telling me that my boobs should be bigger and tender by now, but they aren't. They look as wonderful as always. They've always been big enough to feed a child, so I can't imagine I will have a problem there ;)

Labor signs:
Of course not yet.

Gender:
No idea. See my next post on guesses!

Belly Button:
Innie! Fingers crossed I stay that way. I am already totally freaked out that our baby comes home with the umbilical cord attached and then it falls off! I don't want the same thing here!

Wedding Rings:
On! And comfortable, thankfully!

Sleep:
A little restless but I think that has more to do with the move and that now we face east with the sun than my pregnancy, but who knows!

Wisdom:
No real wisdom this week. Just that every lady needs a great support system. We are waiting to tell everyone until 12 weeks but I told one friend and my mom. It is nice to have a few people to talk to about what I'm going through. I'm sure next time no one will even care ;)

Sunshines and Creeps

Sunshine to our Anniversary last Monday. I cannot believe a whole year has already flown by since we said "I do". It has been the most amazing year of my life and I can't wait for the ones ahead.

SUNSHINE to VACATION, we had so much fun, more on that to come!! Creep to vacation going by SOOO fast, we blinked and it was over.

Sunshine to having a few wonderful friends with babies that I can get lots of great advice from.

Sunshine to feeling baby Johnson move this week!

Sunshine to the short week thanks to vacation! It really felt like a short week this week since I wasn't super busy at work when I got back.

Sunshine to our new gym opening this week. Creep to the new gym being TOTALLY packed. I hope for my sanity it slows down there sometime.

Creep to showing up for water aerobics last night and (after asking three people where it was) finding out it was canceled but no one was bothering to tell anyone! Ugh. So I went home to get workout clothes and get dinner ready for Ross and went back for Yoga an hour later. Only to go to class to no instructor. We waited until someone working out came flying in asking where the instructor was. Turns out she also is a yoga instructor and taught the class for us since he never showed up. That would have been a major disappointment since I didn't bring tennis shoes and would have had to go home AGAIN (double creep)!

Sunshine to the sunshine, I am loving this fall weather!!! I am hoping that we have a nice mild winter like last year, it will make having a baby in wintertime much easier!

Oh Baby Week 17

Total Weight Gain:
Up about a pound. It fluctuates daily.

Maternity clothes:
Loving them. My best advice is embrace them early. I tried to hold off, but WHY?! You are going to buy them anyway, why not get more use out of them and start wearing them and be comfortable!

Stretch Marks:
Nope.

Best moments:
Probably just feeling more preggo, less bloated and more preggo. My belly is starting to firm up which is a weird feeling but cool to know what's in there!

Movement:
Nope, soon though I hope!

Food Cravings:
No, not really.

Food Aversions:
Still choking down protein however I can.

What I miss:
This week not much, maybe a delicious beer but that comes and goes quickly.

Nausea/Vomiting:
Nope!

Symptoms:
Back aches they get bad the longer I sit. I also got a terrible nose bleed this week. Ross was forced to go get a new humidifier for our room for sleeping. That has helped already!

Labor signs:
No, phew

Gender:
One week until the big ultrasound!

Belly Button:
Innie.

Wedding Rings:
Depends on the day, they're never too tight to have on but you can really see the fluctuation.

Sleep:
I wake up with a lot on my mind these days. I can't complain because I usually sleep pretty well.

Wisdom:
Keep working out ladies! I go over my lunch hour because that is what works best with my crazy busy schedule these days but gosh does it help my back and feels so good. This week I also tried prenatal yoga and Fell. In. Love. It got all the right muscles moving and stretching and felt soooo good.

Week 5 - Just finding out the big news!

It is crazy looking back at how small the baby was and how large (s)he is now! It is fun knowing how much closer we are to meeting baby now too! So this is fun to be able to to go back re-post these 12 weeks later!
Size of the baby?
Orange/Apple Seed, teeny tiny.

Total Weight Gain/Loss?
starting weight so, yay, up zero. I'm sure that will be the last time I get to say that for 9 months.

Maternity Clothes?
Nothing yet!

Stretch marks?
Nothing yet! I am going to start oiling up that belly ASAP though.

Best Moments?
Telling Ross the big news! Even better that I got to do it on Father's Day! It was also one of the last days in our first home so it was fun to have one last really special memory there!

Movement?
Nope, a long way to go for that!

Food Cravings?
No, but everything is starting to smell, like a lot. And I no longer want breakfast foods, ever. I want lunch right away.

Anything making you queasy or sick?
Last week I was on a lot of elevators which made me really woozy.

What I miss?
Summer shandy, and the champagne we bought to celebrate moving into our new house this week.

What I'm looking forward to?
Telling our family and friends, and getting to finally post this post!

Nausea/Vomiting?
Nope.

Symptoms?
I can smell EVERYTHING! I couldn't even read the paper yesterday because it was too smelly! The day I was supposed to get my last period I was sure it was coming all day and night because I had cramps just like I normally do, but it never came...I am crying at the tip of a hat though. I cry about everything. That's new for me. I am not a crier and don't like it one bit!

Labor signs?
Clearly not...

Gender?
We have decided to find out. I don't want to tell anyone else though and Ross does.

Belly Button In or Out?
Innie, hopefully forever!

Wedding rings On or Off?
On, but tight already.

Sleep?
I totally have insomnia, I hope that goes away because it is tiring. I haven't gotten the sleepies yet like they say you do in the first trimester, so I'm sure that is coming. I also haven't had some of the other symptoms like the tender breasts.

Wisdom?
I bawled when I told Ross about the baby. I was so scared and exhausted from keeping the secret that everything just finally came out. I am so lucky that Ross is just such a perfect husband and totally had me comforted and back to normal in no time!

Oh Baby - Week 16

Now that the cat is out of the bag I can finally post my weekly bumpdates. I will do two per week until I'm caught up to the current week.

Total Weight Gain:
Not sure, but up a couple for sure. This belly is growing by the day!

Maternity clothes:
Just bought some this week! We stopped at two Motherhood maternity stores and I loaded up on tops. I am not ready to buy pants yet.  Holy crap maternity clothes are spendy!!

Stretch Marks:
Nope.

Best moments:
Getting to tell all my girlfriends in person, finally! It took us awhile to get together but it was worth the wait!

Movement:
Nope, any day now though! I can't wait for that moment. All the former preggos I talk to tell me that's the one thing they miss after labor so I hope I get to experience it soon!

Food Cravings:
Not really anything that I can think of. But I did polish off two pieces of cake at my friend Jenni's wedding this weekend!

Food Aversions:
Nope.

What I miss:
WINE! Jenni's wedding was wine themed and they had it flowing by the bottle. It was devastating not to be able to partake.

Nausea/Vomiting:
Nope!

Symptoms:
Back aches but nothing I can't deal with.

Labor signs:
No, thank goodness

Gender:
Two weeks until the big ultrasound!

Belly Button:
Innie.

Wedding Rings:
Getting much tighter. I am also getting a nice rash from the tightness. Thank you very much.

Sleep:
Not too bad. My back hurts if I sleep on it too long.

Wisdom:
Track down everyone you want to tell on your own time. Some people feel comfortable telling right away (which I probably will next time) but I definitely wanted to wait until the second trimester. I was just so nervous about miscarrying that I wanted to be sure before telling the world. It is really hard to feel pregnant when you don't really have the traditional "symptoms" of pregnancy. So I waited. Now I have a feeling that this baby is being super easy on me and maybe my body just likes being pregnant, I don't know.

Also, buy a clarasonic. I had one before getting pregnant but hadn't used it for a couple months because it needed a new brush head. I got one a couple weeks ago and it is MAGIC for my pregnant skin. It cleared up most of my acne in a jiff!

Also, I started going back to the gym this week and it was the other best decision I have made for this pregnancy. It gives you so much more energy and makes your ever expanding body feel so much better.

Sunshines and Creeps

  • Sunshine to a short week! I can't wait to leave for our friend's house on Friday and for a really special wedding on Saturday!
  • Creep to getting some really sad news last night.
  • Creep to washing my sheets and finding my phone in there with them when I went to put them in the dryer. There could be no worse noise on the face of the earth than a loud thunk in a washer full of sheets and knowing instantly what it was. (But praying to God, seriously I did, that it was the TV remote and not my irreplaceable iPhone)
  • Sunshine to the lack of phone causing me to get crazy amounts of sorting done and getting through a lot of the boxes in the garage. I have a few left. I thought I put away all my shoes, but Ross pulled out another bag. This woman has too many shoes!
  • Creep to the lack of phone meaning I couldn't make my really wanted trip to Fargo to see Kristen, Josh and Caleb. That was a real bummer.
  • Sunshine to this weekend, seriously I couldn't be more excited. It will be the first weekend seeing my friends in too long and the first weekend with my hubby in over a month! I am chomping at the bit for Friday already!
