Friday Funday

I came across this idea on GroopDealz today! It is something you could EASILY do as a DIY project instead of spending $12 on.
All you really need is a fun key - I'm sure you can find them at thrift stores or some craft stores- and then come up with some fun saying to put with it.
Awaiting the presents that Santa will leave,
Just hang this key by the door for him,
And all the gifts will be left within.

Brown-Sugar Glazed Sweet Potatoes with Marchmallows
Last Friday I made these sweet potatoes! They were WONDERFUL, just what I wanted. They would be perfect for a holiday meal. I halved the recipe (actually I halved the potatoes and did 3/4 of the sauce, don't be tempted, it won't look like it will be enough, but it will. I promise) and it was a perfect amount for two, with a little leftovers. I used two rather large sweet potatoes.
Don't worry I didn't waste the extra sauce, I put it on ice cream and it was DELICIOUS!
Here you go!
Brown Sugar-Glazed Sweet Potatoes With MarshmallowsBon Appétit | November 1994
A Thanksgiving classic with a nineties twist. There are marshmallows and brown sugar to keep the youngsters happy, and "big kids" will like the addition of almonds and spices. Yield: Serves 8 4 pounds red-skinned sweet potatoes (yams), peeled, cut into 1-inch pieces Preheat oven to 375°F. Arrange potatoes in 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Combine sugar, butter, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and ginger in heavy small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Pour over potatoes; toss to coat. Cover dish tightly with foil. Bake potatoes 50 minutes. Uncover; bake until potatoes are tender and syrup thickens slightly, basting occasionally, about 20 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 500°F. Top potatoes with marshmallows and nuts. Return to oven; bake until marshmallows begin to melt and nuts begin to brown, about 3 minutes. recipe from epicurious |
