VEGAS!

So exactly one year ago today Ross and I were getting ready to head to Vegas! It was a little birthday/anniversary trip we planned but also went to see Ross's brother who lives in a Vegas suburb. It was also our very first big trip we took with each other.

What can I say about Vegas???!!! It sure is one of a kind, and LOADS of fun! The first night we got in Ross's brother picked us up and we went to the M Resort for a few drinks and some yummy sushi. The M resort is beautiful and Ross's brother (who was full of fun history about most of Las Vegas) told us that this casino is unique because the architect (who is responsible for a lot of the LV skyline) was also the owner and wanted to build his own casino.

The next day we went to check out some of Ross's brother's favorite local spots in town, and also went for a tour of course! Our first stop was for fish tacos made by a local guy. Apparently this place was very close to the UNLV campus where his brother goes to school and he frequents the place often. The tacos were great, but what was even better was sitting outside and eating...something that doesn't happen often here in GF in May. Then we went to Freakin' Frogs across the street. This place was Ross's highlight of the trip! He still talks about it to this day! I must admit, I really enjoyed it too. FF has over 1000 beers and in their Whiskey Attic they have over 600 kinds of whiskey. They also had a pretty impressive tequila stock but they were apparently phasing it out to keep their focus on whiskey and beer. We each picked a different kind of beer to enjoy, mine was a delicious honey infused beer that was 13% alcohol and 100% delicious. Then we all "enjoyed" some whiskey (I say this loosely because I didn't even finish mine, so NOT a whiskey girl!)
That night we hit up Fremont Street (downtown LV). VERY sketchy. I would skip downtown if you go. I felt like I was going to get pick pocketed at every turn. Ross very much enjoyed it... the booze probably helped ;)
Seeing the famous Vegas Vic was certainly a highlight downtown though.

The next day we went to the strip to see the newest casino, City Center. We spent most of our time in Aria, which was beautiful!
Ross and I then bee-bopped around the strip by ourselves. I got a yard of margarita in the Caesar's Palace shopping pavillion, which was GREAT for strolling around with.

Then we checked out the Mirage which was probably my favorite casino.

On to the next day, which was my favorite! Ross surprised me with tickets to the Cirque de Soli tickets for the Beatles Love show for our one year dating anniversary! I have been dying to see this show forever! I have been listening to the soundtrack for a couple years. I was so very surprised and so happy to have a plan for the night instead of wandering aimlessly through town again. So we had a pretty chill morning and then hit up in and out burger with Ross's brother and then he took us to our hotel that we got for the night (at the imperial palace). We stood in line to check in, for quite a while, and we marveled at all the different types of people come to LV and all the different kinds of clothes they wear! We finally checked in and saw all the celebrity impersonator dealers they have (too many) as well as all of the decor (which at times consisted of duct tape holding up fabric on the walls). Then we got up to our room so I could get ready. Woof. Immediately we noticed that the view was horrible, the bed was rock hard and the pool was worse than a Motel 8! But it was cheap and we didn't stay long! We took off for adventures on the strip again! I filled up my yard of margarita (with an extra tequila shot) and eventually made our way to the Mirage for our show. When we got there we picked up a few souvenirs from the LOVE gift shop and then went to the bar for drinks, which were 32 oz! Needless to say, by the end of the show we were ready for something in our bellies. However, we decided to go watch the Treasure Island pirate show instead, and then found more drinks.

Eventually we found food. It was the absolute worst choice for dinner we could've made in LV and was SUPER expensive. We were ok spending the money because we were celebrating, but I for one was hoping that it would at least be good food...I only have myself to blame because I was getting so desperate for food I picked the place. So for my 2 cents, don't go to the french place in the venetian.

After a few (mis)adventures with escalators I went back to the room for what I hoped would be a brief nap (but turned into bedtime). Ross decided to go out and celebrate his birthday on his own (which by that time it officially was). I must say he was a great partner and checked up on me all night (which probably also kept him close to home). The next morning I woke up to Ross passed out and lots of fun voicemails and picture messages from him throughout the night. Then we tried to go to our dinky pool but it was too cold so we went to margaritaville for breakfast instead and then it was time to go home. Very quick but fun-filled trip!

We flew home on Ross's 35th birthday, what a trooper!

Happy (early) 36th birthday babe!
